FINE ARTS
Tinos is one of the most important centers of artistic creation in Greece, with a rich tradition that spans from folk art to fine arts. Sculpture and marble craftsmanship have left an indelible mark on the architecture and artistic heritage of both the island and modern Greece. Meanwhile, painting, iconography, and applied arts continue to evolve dynamically.
Since the 17th century, Tinian artists have gained recognition both in Greece and abroad, significantly contributing to the development of modern Greek art. The island’s marble craftsmen worked on major architectural projects, creating monuments, public buildings, and churches. At the same time, the Pyrgos School of Marble Craftsmanship continues to train new generations of artists, ensuring the preservation of sculpture and applied arts traditions.
The Tinos Virtual Museum showcases the island’s rich artistic heritage, presenting the evolution of the arts through multimedia exhibits and interactive experiences. Visitors can explore the deep connection between Tinos and the arts, discovering both traditional and contemporary artistic expression.
